CES
Current Employment Statistics (CES)
In cooperation with BLS, WITS conducts a monthly survey of non-farm business establishments, including government, to provide the timeliest estimates of employment, hours, and earnings data by industry for the nation, states, and most major metropolitan areas. Also known as the establishment or payroll survey, the CES survey sample size includes about 9,500 reporting units across Wisconsin. Published CES data are considered one of the earliest indicators of the state's economic health related to employment.
Would you like to learn more about the CES Benchmarking process? CES Benchmarks the data each year, updating the job numbers with new data. Read A quarterly benchmarking procedure for the Current Employment Statistics program, BLS Monthly Labor Review, November 2017 to learn more about the process.
